Splurges

So last time, the budget was about the same, but it didn't go near as far, and it was a lot more...strict. This time, it's sort of self-imposed in an effort to save a little bit for a house. This makes it a lot easier to splurge. Last time, I was very thrifty. Since I knew no one would see my shoes under my dress (ballroom-style and a steal at a mere $250 from the Running of the Brides at Filene's basement), I took my old character shoes from HS theater (basically tap shoes without the taps) and spray painted them white in the back yard. I knew they'd be comfortable, and it just cost a few bucks for the paint. And it worked. This time though, my dress is short and EVERYONE will see my feet. And they will be in
fabulous ( I mean fabulous) shoes. Specifically these. As long as I can muster up the skillz to stay upright in 3.75" heels.

Now, I'm not a total brand-whore (though I do like nice things). And if I found a suitable shoe at a more reasonable price, I'd go for them. But I'm getting these. So what caused this new-found frivolity? A.) I'm a little better off now, and my fiancé is not so against my spending anything more than $30 on shoes. 2.)You only live once, right? iii.) C'mon? They're really frickin' cute. d.) The pictures. The photographer always takes pictures of the shoes. And when she takes a picture of mine, they will say Stuart Weitzman.

Just ask!

I'm not a bargainer. I believe (perhaps, naively so) in the power of the market to set prices. So when I see a price, I usually accept it as given. However, today I just cut the price of the room for the rehearsal dinner in half - just by asking! This could be the beginning of something wonderful.
